Reinstate Delfina & restore CAIWU members' hours

Mindspace & Key Enviro Solutions

Delfina Patricio, cleaner and CAIWU member, has been unfairly dismissed from her job at luxury co-working space Mindspace for refusing to have her hours halved.

Key Enviro Solutions, the outsourced company responsible for cleaning the offices, attempted to halve Delfina's hours from 4 hours per day to 2 hours per day. When Delfina refused these new hours, she was sacked immediately without redundancy pay.

Now, a non-union member at the workplace has been offered more hours, while even more CAIWU members are having their hours slashed.

This constitutes clear trade union victimisation at Mindspace, and should it not be resolved, our members will strike on May 1st — we will not be intimidated by Key Enviro's threats of disciplinary action.

Mindspace & Key Enviro Solutions,

We are concerned by the dismissal of cleaner Delfina Patricio for refusing to have her hours halved — in essence slashing her take-home pay by 50% — and the ongoing victimisation of CAIWU members at Mindspace through cutting hours cross the board.

It is shocking to see a workspace that claims 'when people are excited about coming to work, businesses thrive' treat its own workers with such disdain and disrespect.

Should Delfina and the other cleaners not have their hours restored with immediate effect, we will support them to take industrial action. We will join their pickets and protests outside of the Mindspace premises — an action that carries significant reputational risks for your respective businesses, and we will support a boycott of Mindspaces services until this issue is resolved.
