Reject Bigoted Business Partners in Pasco Schools

Pasco School District Board of Directors

The people of Pasco have recently endured attacks by Kennewick City Councilman, Bob Parks. He has made bigoted and disparaging remarks about our city in general and has belittled the children attending our schools in particular. We believe that the Pasco School District should disassociate from such hatefulness, so we are petitioning the PSD Board of Directors to refrain from any non-essential business with the City of Kennewick while Councilman Parks has a role in that city's governance.

Pasco is a beautiful city that is made better because of our diverse population. We celebrate the contributions made by people of all cultures and we take pride in the fact that families from many varied backgrounds choose to make this place their home. We acknowledge that our diversity is a source of strength and believe that efforts to undermine or disparage ethnic and linguistic minorities cannot be tolerated.

Therefore, we are petitioning the Pasco School District to refrain from any non-essential business with the City of Kennewick while Bob Parks holds an office in that city's governance. Councilman Parks has repeatedly made hateful and bigoted remarks about Pasco's Hispanic population, about immigrants, and about children attending Pasco schools. We cannot condone engaging in partnerships with entities or individuals whose values are so incompatible with our own, so we respectfully request that the PSD Board of Directors take immediate action on this important issue.
