Release Arthur!

Federal Judge Stearns

KEEPING AUTHUR INCARCERATED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IS A DEATH SENTENCE!

It's critical that our response to this global Corona virus pandemic protects our most vulnerable people, our incarcerated communities.

We, the undersigned members of the Dorchester/Boston Community hereby request a reconsideration for Arthur A. Williams' to be released on home confinement, which was denied by Judge Stearns on June 10, 2020.

Arthur Williams remains in remission after a battle with leukemia and has to have yearly examinations to remain clear. Because Of Arthur's leukemia, Arthur's immune system could always be compromised. Medical professionals has also deemed Arthur as obese. Doctors have found it necessary to immediately transfer Arthur to the Federal Medical Center in Ayer, MA. Where they are hoping Arthur will be safe. However, as of today there has been an increase in deaths from covid-19 in this facility.

The CDC, has stated that having both illnesses combined, will most likely result in death for Arthur. His medical history places him at an increased vulnerability and higher risk to the Covid-19 Contagion. As such, we are seeking an emergency release due to the life-threatening Corona Virus Pandemic.

The rapid escalation of the covid-19 crisis in MA prisons means that Arthur’s continued incarceration at FMC DEVENS, poses an immediate threat to his life.

Medical doctors state that, if Arthur contracts Covid-19 in prison his health will rapidly deteriorate with potentially fatal consequences.

Arthur is a warm and positive person. While in prison, he has maintained a perfect disciplinary record and has completed many of the federal penal system's rehabilitation programs over a five-year period, thereby earning many certificates of recognition & completion.

Arthur is halfway through a 120-month sentence and qualifies for the CARES Act as well as the Dismantle Mass Incarceration for Public Health Act passed by Congress in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Arthur has a concrete release plan, a fiancee and a loving home to be released on home confinement to. He also has the support of his family who loves and deeply cares for him.
