Giovanni has called the United States his home since he was five. He grew up in a single parent home in Austin, TX with his mother and brothers. Giovanny grew up away from his father who lived in Mexico while he lived in Austin. After witnessing a shooting in Acapulco, Giovanni and his family became concerned for his life. On January 3rd, Giovanni risked his life to reunite with his mother and brothers in the U.S. He was found under a bridge tied up in ropes and is now currently detained in Cibola Detention Center, a facility that was previously shut down but re-opened under the Trump Administration.
