Reproaction

Remove Kevin Williamson as Columnist for The Atlantic

Target: Jeffery Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic

Update: On April 5, The Atlantic finally fired Kevin Williamson. While we celebrate this outcome, the fact remains that he never should have been hired in the first place. Reproaction condemns all of Kevin Williamson’s hate speech -- not just his advocacy for killing women who have abortions, but also his vile racist and anti-trans views.

While we remain unsatisfied with The Atlantic and other media outlets that enable far-right commentators who engage in hate speech in the name of 'balance,' as an activist organization we applaud the individuals who made it impossible for The Atlantic not to fire Kevin Williamson.

Kevin Williamson has been spewing hate against women, LGBTQ people, and racial minorities for years. Yet, editor-in-chief Jeffery Goldberg of The Atlantic reportedly believes people should be given a “second-chances.” [1]

There are no second chances for people who advocate for the execution of women who have abortions, which is exactly what Williamson has done. [2] With regard to Williamson’s tweet that women should be hanged for abortion, Goldberg stated in an all-staff email to The Atlantic: “I don’t think anyone should try to defend Kevin’s most horrible tweet. I expect that Kevin will explain this tweet himself when he gets here.”

There is no explanation needed. He wants women (and their doctors and medical staff) to die for having an abortion. He should be removed as a columnist on The Atlantic immediately.
