Restore the Voting Rights Act

United States Congress

Fifty years ago, our national leaders came together to sign the 1965 Voting Rights Act, a historic and hard-won victory of the Civil Rights Movement that protects the voices of all Americans at the ballot box.

But in 2013, in a partisan vote, the Supreme Court gutted key pieces of the Voting Rights Act.

The Voting Rights Advancement Act would restore key provisions to the Voting Rights Act and protect the rights and voices of all Americans.

Please support Support H.R. 2867.

Everyone should have the right to vote.

Unfortunately, recent court decisions have weakened the Civil Rights Act of 1965, making it easier for states to change registration requirements, and close polling locations in low income communities that prevent citizens from exercising their lawful right to vote.

Instead of discouraging people to exercise their right to vote, we should be preserving and protecting it.

That's why I'm asking Congress to support H.R. 2867, the Voting Rights Advancement Act (VRAA). I take the right to vote seriously, and I hope Congress does too.
