Retirement Security Matters!

2016 Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton & Donald Trump

Retirement security matters.

Whether you're days away from retirement or just beginning your career, access to a secure income in retirement is essential. A secure retirement means stability after decades of work, independence for you and your loved ones, an opportunity to make the most out of life.

Unfortunately, retirement security isn't a reality for millions of working people. Roughly half of private sector workers in America - 55 million people - lack access to an employer-sponsored plan.

So why aren't our presidential candidates talking about retirement security?

Neither Clinton nor Trump addressed retirement in their major economic speeches. Aside from a few mentions to Social Security, their websites are mostly mute on the issue.

Why the radio silence on retirement? From Baby boomers to millennials, retirement security is a top priority for American workers. It should be for our candidates, too.

We call on the 2016 Presidential Candidates to answer the call of working people and address retirement security now:

  • As president, how will you expand retirement security for all workers?
  • Will you protect defined benefit pensions, shielding workers from political attacks and ensuring  that retirees receive the benefits they have earned?
  • Will you expand Social Security and provide retirees with appropriate cost of living adjustments?

The issues candidates choose to talk about shape the national conversation. This is the first step towards action.

We believe every American deserves to retire with dignity. Our next president should be leading the conversation on retirement security.

Sign here to tell candidates to make retirement security a priority this election season.
