Dear Mr. Acuna
I was extremely saddened and shocked to learn that Nancy Oliva Baca was suddenly arrested by ICE agents at her regular immigration check-in on Friday June 29th. Nancy had been checking in with ICE for years but was arrested suddenly without warning, explanation, or consideration for how this could impact her children for years to come.
Nancy has been a proud member of our community since 2006, when she moved to New Orleans to help with reconstruction after the storm. Her twin daughters, Yoani and Rachel, are 9 years old and her son, Cristopher is 17.
Nancy is in no way a threat to our community. In fact, she worked alongside many other New Orleanians to help our city recover from one of the deepest crises we have ever faced. Please grant Nancy a Stay of Deportation so that she can reunite with her children.
Thank you.
