Revoke Diplomas from Spencer and Kessler

UVA President Teresa Sullivan

On August 12, UVA alumni Richard Spencer and Jason Kessler organized a "Unite the Right" event that was designed to stoke fear in the community of Charlottesville and terrorize local residents of color. Attendees of this event arrived in paramilitary gear, armed with assault rifles, tear gas, and bats. They were thirsty for blood.

The University of Virginia owes it to people of color throughout the Charlottesville community, to the family of slain activist Heather Heyer, and to all those injured in both body and spirit to revoke the diplomas of UVA alumni Richard Spencer and Jason Kessler, and to commit to ejecting them from University grounds if they ever appear there again.
