Sign Now: Stop Paul Ryan’s commission to “fix” Social Security

All Members of the U.S. House of Representatives

The American people overwhelmingly believe the only thing wrong with Social Security is that its benefits are too low. And yet, there are still those in Washington and on Wall Street who call for cuts to our earned benefits.

They want to undercut Social Security and make you think that it won’t be there for you in retirement. That’s why, just last week, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan called for a commission to “fix” Social Security. But we’re not fooled. We know that “fix” is just code for “cuts.”

At a time when Social Security has a $2.8 trillion surplus, can pay out 100% of earned benefits owed for the next 17 years and approximately 80% of benefits after that, we should be looking for ways to expand, not cut, Social Security for millions of Americans.

Sign the petition rejecting any commission whose actual intention is to cut Social Security.

Social Security is the most successful social insurance program in our country’s history, and yet there are those in Washington and on Wall Street who continue to call for unnecessary cuts. Now, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan has called for a commission to “fix” Social Security. We’re not fooled. We know that “fix” is just code for “cuts.” We demand that Congress reject any commission whose actual intent is to cut our hard-earned Social Security benefits.
