We call on the Gloucestershire County Council to install zebra crossings for St Paul's Road and Folly Lane to ensure pedestrian safety and improve active travel access.

St Paul's Road is a major route to primary schools including Dunalley School and Gardners Lane, for students travelling to Hardwick campus and Francis Close Hall, and for people walking to St Paul's Medical Centre and into the lower High Street.

Motorists frequently speed through these areas of St Paul's, and it has become a significant "ratrun" that sees continual traffic and road noise from vehicles, and feels dangerous for residents on foot.

Young families, elderly people, those with limited mobility and sight, also all live in the area. They deserve safe crossings and investment into active travel options for which road surveys have already been carried out and funding found.

A zebra crossing at the end of Folly Lane would also help to deter motorists from turning while people are crossing - it's a blind corner that also needs investment to ensure pedestrians can cross safely without having to take a chance between oncoming vehicles.

Crossings would keep people safe while also deterring speeding driving. It is a matter of urgent importance that safe crossings are installed.
