The area surrounding the UC Berkeley campus is plagued with violent crime. There have already been assaults and it’s only the 2nd week of school. We need to be able to feel safe in our own community. It is imperative that we have some kind of police presence as a deterrent for violent crime. Just a simple patrol to cruise the area and keep an eye out for people who need help could make a huge difference.
