Act Now to Demand a Civilian Climate Corps for Our Communities!
US Elected Officials
The economic and climate hardships of the past year have shown us that our nation is facing unprecedented crises that continue to threaten our families’ health, environment, and economy. Now more than ever, we need bold action to protect our communities and secure a liveable future.
By investing in stewardship of the outdoors and the places we live, we can also bolster community resilience and advance environmental justice for communities disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis.
Creating a Civilian Climate Corps would put a new generation to work in good jobs, with benefits, that address our climate crisis and advance environmental justice.
These jobs will provide education stipends and vocational training; promote leadership and citizenship; and complete significant amounts of high-quality work in cities, towns, and on our public lands and waters improving parks and recreation spaces, building climate-resilient projects, and conserving our resources for future generations.
We have a moral obligation to leave a habitable world for future generations. A robust Civilian Climate Corps would give young people in America the opportunity to serve their communities through critical projects like installing solar panels and supporting disaster resilience.
It is urgent that Congress pass a bill that makes the big, bold, and ambitious investments needed to tackle the climate crisis, advance environmental justice, and accelerate the transition to clean energy. To meet this moment, to heed the science, and to make good on President Biden’s promises, Congress must act now to deliver on climate, justice, and jobs.
