SAVE OUR NHS – STOP THE CUTS!

In September we heard from the Secretary of State and the Prime Minister that the last government had run the NHS into the ground, and it was in a critical condition. We also heard that it could be saved. However, instead of prioritising much-needed investment in the NHS, the Government has chosen to oversee the biggest cuts to the NHS in a generation.

NHS services should remain publicly owned, publicly accountable, and delivered by NHS staff.

With no plan for how critical care will be delivered in the future, much of the damaging cuts dictated by the Government look like privatisation by the back-door.

Our NHS workers dedicate themselves daily to delivering the highest standards of care to patients in increasingly challenging conditions. The decisions currently being made regarding the future of NHS services are not only having a devastating impact on staff livelihoods and morale but are also jeopardising the quality and accessibility of care for the public.

The recent announcements of further NHS cuts are deeply alarming. Austerity has already hollowed out the service; more cuts will deepen inequalities, increase waiting times, and cause untold damage to the health of our communities.

We call on Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, to:

1. End the outsourcing of NHS services

2. Protect NHS jobs and skills and reverse the budget cuts with immediate effect

3. Urgently invest in the NHS

Save our NHS – Stop the Cuts. Now is the time to stand together with NHS workers and Unite on the right side of history.
