For several years, the Harford County Board of Education has failed to fully honor its commitments to teachers and other staff.  Each year for the past three years HCPS has lost approximately 300 teachers.  This excessive turn-over is causing an overall decline in the quality of education and threatening the integrity of our public schools.  Please send a message to the Harford County Board of Education that you believe building quality schools starts with keeping quality teachers in Harford County.

We the undersigned, feel that it is the duty, responsibility, and obligation of the Harford County Board of Education to create and pass a sustainable budget, which maintains quality education in Harford County through promoting the retention and recruitment of the best possible teachers by honoring teachers’ salary scale, providing quality teacher driven, needs based professional development and creating a healthy workplace by honoring our teachers’ negotiated agreement.

We believe that it is irresponsible for the Harford County Board of Education to continuously fail to honor it financial commitments to its staff. Furthermore, we believe that this failure to provide financial stability and failure to honor teachers’ salary scales has led to a mass departure of high quality teachers which is causing deterioration of our schools and community. Similarly, we believe that it is in the best interests of both the community and our schools for the Harford County Board of Education to honor both the salary scales and negotiated agreement of our teachers.
