OSPIRG Students: Save the Bees
Governor Kate Brown
We rely on bees to pollinate everything from almonds, to strawberries, to coffee, to the alfalfa used to feed dairy cows. But in recent years, beekeepers report they’re losing on average 30% of all honeybee colonies each year. Scientists point to several causes including a class of bee-killing pesticides known as neonics. Oregonians rely on bees to pollenate one-in-three forkfuls of our food.
Governor Brown, I urge you to "bee a hero" and save our pollinator by banning neonics.
