Dear Senators Manchin and Capito,

Please pass the American Jobs Plan.

As West Virginians, we have powered America for more than a century. Now it’s time America invested in us, and that is why I am urging you to pass The American Jobs Plan. The Plan will repair our roads and bridges, create good jobs for thousands of West Virginians, expand internet access, clean our waterways and more.

The plan will put West Virginians to work by investing hundreds of millions of dollars into cleaning up our abandoned mines, putting coal communities to work. In addition, the plan will extend proven tax credit programs like 48C to support rural manufacturing and locally made clean energy. One out of four people in West Virginia lack broadband access. As more positions move online, the American Jobs plan will help WV compete for work by ensuring that our communities have reliable high-speed internet access.

On top of the investment in WV, the American Jobs Plan includes the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which mandates that all workers have a free and fair choice to join a union. It protects the health of our communities by replacing lead pipes and eliminating carbon pollution by 2035. The American Jobs Plan will make West Virginia a place our children and grandchildren will want to call home for generations to come.

Please, do all you can to help the Senate pass the American Jobs Plan without weakening its provisions.
