SIGN HERE: We need property tax relief for hardworking Mainers
Maine State Legislature
We’re not going to help hardworking families get back on their feet after the economic earthquake of COVID-19 by cranking up their property taxes. By making corporations and the wealthiest 1% pay their fair share, we can avoid raising property taxes and cutting essential services like education and public safety.
One solution that was considered would have required our lawmakers to lower property taxes for hardworking Mainers anytime our state had a budget surplus. This means anytime the legislature has a budget surplus, a fixed percentage would deliver much needed relief to hard working Mainers.
