Sign if you agree: Congress must save the Voting Rights Act

Members of Congress

The U.S. Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in 2013, leaving states free to act on their own accord and the results have already been devastating. States from Texas to Alaska quickly passed laws making it harder for people to vote, disenfranchising communities of color.

The justices threw out the four-decade-old formula that determined which states had to get federal permission or pre-clearance before making any changes affecting voting or elections.

Sign our petition to members of Congress, urging them to fix the Voting Rights Act.

Please adopt a new preclearance formula to the Voting Rights Act, in order to preserve the crucial promise made in our Constitution - fair and equal access to the right to vote.
