As Americans for Tax Fairness said in our report The Case for Congress Obtaining Trump’s Tax Returns, Congress has the legal authority to obtain the president’s tax returns.
Unfortunately, this week, Secretary Mnuchin ― for the second time ― has refused to deliver Trump’s tax returns to Richard Neal (D-MA), the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, calling the request “unprecedented.”
President Trump believes he is above the law. And apparently Secretary Mnuchin does as well.
