Our Constitution isn’t a sacred text, and America isn’t a fixed ideal. In every decade until the 1970s, we either added states or amended the Constitution.

The Founding Fathers weren’t messiahs. Their greatest wisdom was enshrining a Constitution that could be changed as the world changed.

Black people, who were once legally sub-human, gained rights and full citizenship under the law. Yet Philando Castile was murdered by a police officer simply for warning the cop that he was legally carrying a gun. The NRA and other 2nd Amendment absolutists were silent. Castile’s killer remains at large.

Mass shootings are a policy choice, made by the same interests who are normalizing mass death during the pandemic. We the People can change that policy.

In 2020, the Attorney General of the United States ordered military police to use tear gas, which is banned in war, on peaceful protesters so that the President could get his picture taken. The tyrannical government came, and these so-called patriots didn't give a damn.
