We need a Georgia Reproductive Freedom Act!

Georgia needs a Reproductive Freedom Act: Repeal abortion restrictions; Affirm our right to decide. Learn more at amplify-ga.org/RFA

With Roe v. Wade overturned, our right to abortion care is in the hands of whatever state we live in. Each state is now able to protect or ban abortions within its borders. As of July 21st, 2022, Georgians are living under a new state law that forbids most abortions after fetal cardiac activity is present (around 6 weeks of pregnancy).

It doesn't have to be this way -- Georgia lawmakers can repeal the bans that stand between us and our care and affirm our right to decide, by passing the Georgia Reproductive Freedom Act.

When someone decides to have an abortion, they should have access to care that is safe, legal, and affordable, without barriers or fear.

Seventy percent of Georgians support access to legal abortion. Sign the petition and join the growing number of us who demand a better abortion law. When you sign, we can start showing each of our state lawmakers just how many reproductive freedom supporters live in their district. The more of us who sign, the more powerfully we can organize.

Everyone has the right to decide if they will carry a pregnancy to term or have an abortion. That decision should be met with support and resources, never barriers or shame. Abortion should be easy to access, no matter how much money you make, where you live, or your age, race, immigration status, or gender identity.

With Roe v. Wade overturned, our right to abortion care is in the hands of the Georgia legislature. Georgia currently has dozens of medically unjustified laws that restrict abortion access -- including, of course, HB 481, which took effect on July 21st, 2022, and which forbids most abortions after about 6 weeks' gestation (the time when "fetal cardiac activity" is present).

Georgians deserve better, and our state lawmakers CAN do better. The Georgia General Assembly can pass a new law to repeal the bans that stand between us and our care. We want a Georgia Reproductive Freedom Act that affirms the right to decide whether to have an abortion or continue our pregnancy; protects us from being investigated and jailed for the outcomes of our pregnancies; and makes abortion access real and equitable for all Georgians. 70% of Georgians support access to legal abortion, and I'm one of them.
