CHIP funding is set to expire in March, putting 9 million children and 370,000 pregnant women at risk of losing their health coverage. And yet, Republicans in Congress continue to play politics with this critical issue.
House Republicans even went as far as passing CHIP funding that would have cut Medicare, slashed funding for immunizations and disease prevention, denied health coverage to pregnant women and children and more!
CHIP is a wildly successful program that―for the past two decades―has provided healthcare access to children with special needs, working families, pregnant women, children of color and children in rural communities. It’s a lifeline for many families―covering basic health care needs including immunizations, doctor and dental visits, and eye exams.
Congress is expected to vote next week on CHIP funding. Sign the petition today demanding Congress reauthorize CHIP paid for by closing tax loopholes benefiting the richest 1% and wealthy corporations, not by cutting Medicare and other critical services for working families.
