School superintendents

What started with survivors of the Parkland shooting has grown into a nationwide movement with incredible momentum—but some school districts want to stop it in its tracks and stifle students’ right to protest.

A school district superintendent in Needville, Texas told students they would be suspended for three days if they participate in any school walkouts or protests to demand better gun laws.

This is simply unacceptable. Students have a right to protest. Threatening young people with a three-day suspension if they vocally, publicly join the fight against gun violence is shameful.
