Sign the Petition: Tell Walmart to Reinstate Laid-Off Workers

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon

Walmart recently closed five stores and laid off thousands of workers with little notice. Walmart CEO Doug McMillon is claiming the stores were closed for “plumbing issues,” but Walmart has not filed any permits for plumbing work.

Maybe the real reason for the closing is that Walmart wants to silence workers who are standing up and winning.

Sign the petition to tell McMillon we won’t stand for this and that workers should be transferred to another store, compensated in the meantime and given their old jobs back when their store reopens.

I was angered to find out that you abruptly closed multiple Walmart stores around the country, giving workers only hours’ notice that they may not have a job. But I was appalled to hear that one of those stores just happened to be home to some of the most vocal workers in the country.

I call on you, as President & CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., to make sure that all of the workers whose store you abruptly closed are 1) transferred to the Walmart nearest their home, 2) compensated until arrangements can be made for their transfer and 3) given the chance to come back to their store once it reopens.
