Sign the petition to banks & credit card companies: Stop processing gun sales

Visa, MasterCard, Wells Fargo & the financial services industry

While politicians refuse to take action on passing gun safety laws, one powerful group can help stop the sale of deadly assault weapons: banks & credit card companies.

Online retailers like PayPal, Square, Stripe and Apple Pay have for years refused to allow their services to be used for the sale of firearms. “We do not believe [it] is consistent with our values or in the best interests of our customers,” said a Square spokesman.

Credit card companies like Visa, Mastercard and American Express, credit card processors like First Data; and banks like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo could very easily follow that example and refuse to manage the purchases of deadly assault weapons.

If certain banks and credit card companies refused to process the sale of guns, it would go a long way to making them more difficult to acquire. Politicians refuse to stand up to the NRA, but the financial industry must do so.
