Federal Emergency Management Agency

Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico. Roughly one third of the island is still without power, and some without running water.

But the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) made plans to stop shipments of food and water supplies on January 31.

After a public outcry, they reversed their position, but we must stay vigilant—FEMA could still cut off this crucial assistance at any time.

FEMA’s willingness to leave Puerto Rico residents in limbo, not knowing if they'll continue to receive aid or not, is simply cruel. They must do better.

What we see in Puerto Rico continues to be an emergency humanitarian risk. FEMA must continue to provide food and water supplies.
