Sign the petition to Senate Republicans: Stop taking Trump cash—or don't vote on impeachment

Senate Republicans

Senate Republicans are nervous about voting to remove Donald Trump from office, as the House moves forward with overwhelming evidence to impeach.

Many refuse to comment when asked about it by the press, claiming they would be "jurors" in an impeachment trial—and thus it would be inappropriate to speak out.

But as jurors in a trial, it would also be wrong for senators to privately meet with Trump—and even accept his financial support.

Knowing that impeachment is inevitable in the House, Trump has already met with Senate Republicans to lobby against removal—hoping to keep enough senators in line.

And for those who are up for re-election in 2020, Trump is doing all he can to fundraise for their campaigns—literally buying their support for when an impeachment trial happens.

Senate Republicans must choose. If they wish to have a final say in any impeachment trial, they must refuse any financial assistance from Donald Trump for their campaigns and vow not to discuss the matter with the embattled president, even in private.

As members of the United States Senate, you would be called upon to rule on Donald Trump's impeachment trial. Therefore, it would be inappropriate for you to accept any fundraising assistance from the president—as this would be an improper quid pro quo.
