Sign the Petition to Stop the Sham Kinder Morgan Pipeline Hearings

Federal Cabinet

The National Energy Board, that was stacked by the Harper Government appointments in its final days in office, is moving ahead with its reviews of two of the most controversial pipeline projects in Canadian history. In fact final argument hearings for the Kinder Morgan pipeline are about to begin. The outcome of these hearings is all but certain because this regulatory board is made up entirely of former oil gas and utility executives and friends of the former Conservative Government.

We are calling on the Cabinet to stop these sham hearings now and hold a full environmental assessment as promised. We need you to add your voice to this call.

Someone has the power to stop this farce, our new Prime Minister and his Cabinet. Our new government has made big promises to fix our system of Federal environmental assessments and to take action on climate change. But so far they are not extending those promises to the reviews of the Kinder Morgan and Energy East pipelines and that is not acceptable because that could mean almost 2 million barrels of oil being burnt every day. This would place Canada well past our Paris commitment to capping climate change a 1.5 degrees.

To keep their promises to Canadian voters and the world the Liberal Cabinet needs to pull the plug on the Harper pipeline hearings and make sure these proposals get real environmental assessments, that include climate impacts, respects the rights and title of First Nations and hears from the public.
