U.S. Senate

Alabama voters elected Doug Jones to the U.S. Senate, but he likely won't be seated before the end of the year—according to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Meanwhile, Senate Republicans are hell-bent on pushing through their tax scam while they still have a 52-48 majority. It is unfair and undemocratic.

The election results have not been certified yet, but it is very common practice for special election winners to be seated right away.

In 2013, for example, the U.S. House seated Republican Congressman Jason Smith within hours of his election when the results were clear.

The people of Alabama have spoken, and Doug Jones won by a significant enough margin to avoid any mandatory recount. It is common practice to seat winners of special elections right away. Please extend that courtesy to Doug Jones.
