I’m writing as a member Greater Los Angeles community to express my support for maintenance engineers at Douglas Emmett properties seeking a voice at the workplace and a fair first contract.
Over the past two years Douglas Emmett maintenance engineers have begun exercising their right under the National Labor Relations Act to stand together in a union to achieve a brighter future for their families.
I wholeheartedly support these workers’ efforts.
I’m alarmed, however, to learn that Douglas Emmett’s conduct in response to maintenance engineers’ lawful organizing efforts has resulted in the company threatening, discriminating and retaliating against workers.
I strongly urge Douglas Emmett to publicly disavow tactics of intimidation against workers organizing collectively and lawfully to improve their working conditions.
All workers deserve the right to stand together in a union. Please immediately stop the underhanded tactics of harassment and intimidation and recognize the workers’ rights.
