STAND WITH MISSISSIPPI EDUCATORS

Governor Phil Bryant, Lt. Governor Tate Reeves, Speaker Philip Gunn, and members of the MS State Legislature

Every day, Mississippians are working hard to provide a better future for themselves and their families, and access to quality public schools is a critical element in securing that future. Our elected leaders made a promise to provide adequate funding for our schools. They have not fulfilled that promise.

Our teachers, students, and schools have been robbed of nearly $2 billion in just 7 years.

Enough is enough. As parents, students, and community members who are committed to improving Mississippi’s public schools for all students, we support Mississippi educators as they demand:

  • Full-funding of the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP);
  • Starting salary of $40,000 for K-12 teachers, and moving salaries equal to the Southeastern average for K-12 teachers, community college teachers, and four-year college professors;
  • A living wage for teacher assistants, cafeteria professionals, custodial staff, administrative assistants, and other education support personnel; and
  • Enacting Teacher Tenure legislation to ensure a more secure and transparent contract renewal process.

We stand with our educators in their fight to improve public schools. It’s time that Mississippi’s leaders fulfilled their promise to our state’s children and our state’s communities. Our students deserve a fully-funded public school system and the educators who care for them every day deserve to be compensated fairly and treated with respect.

Stand with educators across Mississippi by signing this petition!
