AI can be a tool to support journalism, but many news organizations have deployed the technology in unethical ways without a human behind it. This undermines the integrity of journalism and has spread misinformation on topics like abortion, national politics, oil and gas policy, high school sports and product reviews.
You deserve coverage of the news you care about by human beings. Not AI slop.

I stand in support of unionized journalists and media workers across the country who are calling for common-sense protections around artificial intelligence. I support their demand for the following principles that will protect the quality of the news they produce:
AI will supplement their jobs but not be used for original work creation.
There will be no layoffs or salary reductions as a result of implementing AI tools.
Newsrooms will be transparent in their use of AI.
Companies will not use or sell their employees’ work or likeness for the training or generation of AI without permission and compensation.
Journalists, not executives, will remain in control of AI.
