Stay the Execution of Michael Tanzi

Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Board of Executive Clemency

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

On March 10, Governor DeSantis signed the third death warrant of 2025 and set an execution date for Michael Tanzi. He is scheduled to be executed on Tuesday, April 8, at 6 pm for the 2000 murder of Janet Acosta.

The question isn’t whether Michael Tanzi deserves to die. The real question is: Do we, the people of the State of Florida, deserve to kill him?

Sign this petition to urge the Governor and Executive Clemency Board to stay Michael Tanzi's execution.

We stand together to urge you to stay the execution of Michael Tanzi.

Michael is set to be executed on April 8 at 6 pm for the 2000 murder of Janet Acosta.

Executing Michael for the worst thing he has ever done does not make the people of the State of Florida any safer. Without a doubt, he is not the same person who committed his crimes so many years ago, a fact which he himself acknowledges, as he tries to help others take responsibility for their actions:

"When I look back on my life my regrets are endless. My choices are what I have to live with and I'm okay with that. As my life continues to move forward I'm no longer living in the past and blaming others for my behavior.

I've taken full responsibility for my actions and I'm feeling content. Prison saved my life. I would have never made it to 30 years old. I thank God for reentering my life and giving me the opportunity to find balance and change through His word. I am grateful to those people whom I've found over the years who have stayed in touch and helped me grow into a better person. Without them I don't know what kind of person I'd be today.

So as you read this you may see that you can relate to what I've been through or know of someone who is struggling to find their path in life, I just hope I can help you as you help me.

God Bless. Michael Tanzi, death row Florida"

These are the people the State of Florida is executing in our name. They are not monsters, even ones who may have committed monstrous acts. Every execution dehumanizes us all. We the People of the State of Florida deserve better.
