Green New Deal for Public Schools Splash Logo

Every day, millions of public school students, teachers, and staff work and learn in crumbling, unventilated buildings that swelter in summer and freeze in winter. Because school funding comes from local taxes, this crisis gets concentrated in the Black, brown, and white poor & working class neighborhoods. In the greater St. Louis and Metro East area, the underfunding of schools has led to the growth of private solutions and money in the form of charter schools as the only answer to this crisis. But our children schools and teachers deserve strong, safe schools that are accountable and owned by the public. We need public funding for our public schools!

The Green New Deal for Public Schools will invest $1.4 trillion over ten years in America's K-12 public schools to build the carbon-free, climate resilient schools of tomorrow. That funding will create 1.3 million jobs per year and eliminate 78 million tons of carbon dioxide, annually, while also hiring more teachers and staff, removing toxic materials, expanding community services, and closing the education gap.

We demand that our Congressional representatives support increasing funding for public schools, by voting Yes on the Green New Deal for Public Schools, and championing public school funding every opportunity they get.

We need all hands on deck in order to do it! Use this petition to sign your name in support of the Green New Deal for Public Schools today.

Together, we can create the future our children deserve. Join us!
