Stop New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure
Gov. Charlie Baker
This November, world leaders are gathering to decide what happens next now that Trump has pulled out of the Paris climate agreement. This is a historic moment, and a chance for all of us to reckon with our position on climate change. We need to send a message to the world that the United States will keep moving forward, even as Trump tries to drag us backwards.
We are dedicating a “Climate Legacy Time Capsule” in Boston on November 18 to mark this moment. It will be opened in 2117, one hundred years from now, so our great-great-grandchildren may know how we responded to the climate threat when it mattered most.
You, Charlie Baker, have until Nov. 18th to do your part by signing an executive order to block new fossil fuel projects. In addition to limiting climate change, this policy would transform Massachusetts for the better by ending sickening air and water pollution, and leading the way towards a renewable energy revolution that will create thousands of good jobs.
If you meet our request, you are invited to join us on the 18th and contribute a letter to the time capsule. We would love nothing more than for you to stand alongside us, and be remembered as somebody who finally did the right thing.
If you refuse, we will record where you stand in the time capsule, and you will leave a legacy as just another cynical politician who fell far short. Your own descendents will have trouble fathoming how you could have done so little to protect them, when so much was needed.
It’s not too late to leave a different legacy. You have until November 18.
