We, the undersigned, call on Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton to drop a frivolous, baseless lawsuit by Texas seeking to overturn the duly counted presidential election votes in four other states.

The lawsuit abuses the Constitution by challenging the fundamental right of voters in other states to choose freely at the ballot box. It seeks to infringe on other states’ sovereignty in a manner Texas would never tolerate. It is simply un-American.

Just as bad, the lawsuit is a complete waste of taxpayer resources at a time when our leadership should devote every waking moment to combatting a pandemic that has killed nearly 300,000 Americans, nearly 24,000 of whom are Texans.

The lawsuit against Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin may speak for desperate and cynical politicians but it does not speak for us. The voters have spoken. The election is over. It’s time to build a better America.
