Stop the military from testing creepy spy balloons on us!

Governors

The U.S. military is conducting mass surveillance tests across South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Illinois using high altitude balloons equipped with hi-tech radar capable of conducting “persistent surveillance” of enormous areas.

These tests consist of the military constantly watching all vehicles on land or sea. They monitor and permanently store a real time record of everywhere we go. These balloons are designed to track mass areas across states for weeks and months at a time.

In conducting this warrantless mass surveillance test, the military is collecting a disturbing amount of data about innocent people: they’ll know how often you go to the bar, your place of worship, your kids’ school, and where the person you date lives. The military and the private companies designing the spy balloons determine what happens to the data collected, how it’s used, and how it’s stored.

Studies repeatedly show mass government surveillance does not make us safer or prevent violent attacks. Elected officials in these states should not be allowing the U.S. military to conduct unethical tests on their residents.

Sign the petition to tell the governors of these states: “Stop the U.S. Military from using spy balloons to watch and track us. Mass surveillance does not keep us safe; it violates our civil rights and hijacks our privacy.”
