Stop the Toxic Work Environment at UCLA PCC!

UCLA Board of Regents, Vice Chancellor John C. Mazziotta, President Johnese Spisso and Executive Clinical Director Jeff Butler

UCLA Patient Call Center (PCC) managers and supervisors have again ramped up their micromanagement and bullying of workers to the point that workers must take stress leave to recover from the unrelenting hostile work environment. Management has created unreasonable quality assurance (QA) and "not-ready" goals and is using these unattainable goals to bully workers. All PCC management cares about are the numbers and NOT the patients we serve! This toxic micromanagement and increased workload is causing workers to have health issues--we can’t even go to the restroom without being harassed and bullied! Please sign our petition demanding real solutions and real leadership from management--not threats and retaliation.

We, the employees of UCLA PATIENT CALL CENTER (PCC) and members of Teamsters Local 2010, are signing this petition due to the unhealthy, hostile work environment. PCC managers and supervisors have again ramped up their micromanagement and bullying of workers to the point that workers must take stress leave to recover from the unrelenting hostile work environment.

Management would rather have patients remain on hold for several minutes than to allow us the time to complete our notes and wrap up our calls. If we are in meetings or trainings, they hold that against us and are starting to discipline us and give us bad performance evaluations. Every minute we are on "not-ready," whether it is work-related or not, is being counted against us.

Over the last year we have endured an unexpected increase in our workload, including being assigned to many more queues, without proper notice or training. We are expected to perform double or triple the work with little to no support or relief from our management team.

Many supervisors are unprofessional and abusive. We are worn out and stressed out and we are getting physically and mentally ill due to the pressure that is being placed on us on a daily basis. Many workers are out on stress leaves and others have recently quit. These issues have been brought up many times over many years and we need real solutions and real leadership from management--not threats and retaliation.
