Support 76 Affordable Homes in Palo Alto

Image of building with the words support 382 homes in Palo Alto

The project “Residences at Matadero Creek” would bring 76 apartments designated as subsided affordable housing to Barron Park - this is housing for healthcare workers, educators, seniors.

Palo Alto has only added a few hundred homes designated as affordable housing in the last decade, it is extremely rare to have the opportunity to build 76 affordable homes (of the 382 total homes the project will bring) - outside a bus stop and walking distance to Caltrain and PAUSD schools (that are at risk for potential closure due to declining enrollment)

This developer has a history of expanding pedestrian and bike lanes - which is desperately needed at this very old intersection.

This project converts the Creekside Inn into much needed housing, while maintaining the property’s lush landscape, adding more trees and removing invasive species from the creekbed.

The beloved Driftwood Market will not be kicked out of the property and this project will ensure more neighbors are walking distance to our local businesses who need more support.

Palo Alto is a thriving community in the heart of Silicon Valley, where community members have a lot of city pride. This is an opportunity to help ensure the Palo Alto community is more diverse, inclusive and affordable. Please support the “Residences at Matadero Creek”!

Dear Palo Alto City Council and City Staff,

Thank you for taking the time to review my comments on 3400 El Camino Real, known as the "Residences at Matadero Creek". This proposal would bring, in part, 76 apartments designated as affordable housing to Barron Park - this is housing for healthcare workers, educators, seniors.

Please support the approval and construction of these new homes as soon as possible.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
