Supporting Paid Vaccination Time Grievance

Richard Whitman, Agency Director & Brian Boling, Central Services Administrator

Dear AFSCME Local 3336 Member,

Our Local filed a grievance with Director Richard Whitman on 4/14/2021 regarding the Agency's unwillingness to support staff through the COVID-19 vaccination process. Our Local believes that the Agency violated Health and Safety language in our contract that directs the Agency to prevent occupational illnesses. You can view the grievance here.

Please sign on to our petition to show your support for staff vaccinations and to prevent the spread of this virus in the workplace!

Solidarity and Courage!

I am writing to show support for our Union's recent grievance over the Agency's decision to not provide paid leave to staff in order to secure and recover from the COVID-19 vaccination. The Agency has a history of providing paid time to acquire vaccine protection for other diseases and the Agency also has the responsibility to prevent occupational illness and injury on the job.

I encourage you to reconsider your position on this issue in order to reduce the risk of viral spread in the workplace and to provide support to staff who want to get vaccinated.

Thank you!
