With respect and urgency, we call on you, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, to immediately fulfill your duty to administer the oath of office to Representative-Elect Adelita Grijalva.

Adelita Grijalva was fairly elected on Sept 23, 2025, to represent the people of Arizona’s 7th Congressional District and fill the seat left vacant by her father. Her victory was decisive and not in dispute. The State of Arizona has certified the election and submitted the necessary documentation to your office. Under standard House procedure, Representative-Elect Grijalva should have been sworn in immediately following her election. There is no legal or procedural barrier preventing you from administering the oath of office at the earliest opportunity.

To deny the swearing in of Representative-Elect Grijalva is a refusal of representation to the 813,289 people of Arizona’s 7th District. This inaction prevents a duly elected official from fulfilling her constitutional duties and serving her constituents, leaving them without a voice in Congress.

Therefore, we demand that you immediately schedule and hold the swearing-in ceremony for Representative-Elect Adelita Grijalva and ensure that the people of Arizona’s 7th District have their representation restored without further delay.

The integrity of our democratic process and the right of every district to be represented in Congress should be a priority above all else. We urge you to take swift action and swear in Representative-Elect Grijalva immediately.
