Tell Congress to Pass the Worker Health Coverage Protection Act

The COVID-19 crisis has impacted the health, safety, and economic well-being of millions of working families. For many workers, lost hours, furloughs, and layoffs have thrown their health insurance coverage into doubt. Many are eligible for COBRA health care coverage, but premiums and other expenses can be prohibitively high, especially on a tight budget.

The Worker Health Coverage Protection Act (H.R. 6514) will cover the full cost of COBRA premiums for workers who receive health coverage through their employer and have been laid off, furloughed, or had their hours reduced. The bill provides up to 15 months of premium coverage and is available to workers covered by most employer health plans, including multi-employer plans, state and local government plans, the Federal Health Benefits Program, and private sector plans covered by ERISA.
