Tell Congress to Protect Food Assistance (SNAP)

Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV)

Congress returns to Washington soon to settle the final Farm Bill. Members of the conference committee meet starting September 5 to discuss the Senate and House versions of the bill. The House version makes dramatic cuts to food assistance, while the Senate version not only protects but strengthens food assistance.

Cuts to SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) in West Virginia could take away food assistance for thousands of West Virginians. More than 130,000 kids, 30,000 seniors, 81,000 workers, 13,000 veterans and around 61,000 persons with disabilities rely on SNAP in the Mountain State. No West Virginian should have to worry about putting food on the table.

West Virginia is already hurting. Add your name to demand Congress #ProtectSNAP and ask Senators Capito and Manchin to commit to support the Senate version of the Farm Bill that works for West Virginians.

House Republicans recently introduced a Farm Bill that proposes major cuts to SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) that's counter to West Virginian values. It's up to the Senate to protect effective food assistance.
