Tell Google: Chicago Food Service Workers Deserve A Path To Good Jobs!
Karen Sauder, Google Chicago Site Lead and President of Global Clients and Agency Solutions
Google has reportedly purchased and will occupy the Thompson Center in Chicago. However, Google has made no commitment to UNITE HERE Local 1 to allow the food service workers who will be employed at their new Chicago office to decide whether to join a union free of fear and intimidation. UNITE HERE Local 1 is Chicago’s hospitality and food service workers’ union, representing about 4,800 food service workers at area stadiums, event venues, airports, convention centers, corporate cafeterias, and academic institutions.

Dear Ms. Sauder,
When workers can organize without interference from management, they can receive higher wages, benefits, and respect on the job. If Google wants to be a good neighbor to Chicagoans in all 77 community areas, Google should commit to UNITE HERE Local 1 to allow the food service workers who will be employed at the new Thompson Center office to decide whether to join a union free of fear and intimidation.
Sincerely,
