Governor Hickenlooper

DEADLINE EXTENDED to Nov. 21st!

There's been some talk in the press recently about Colorado's Governor Hickenlooper releasing an executive order aimed at cleaning Colorado's air. It's just one step, but it's an important one. All of Colorado's kids deserve to breathe clean air -- and one way to make that a reality is an executive order to reduce Colorado's carbon emissions. Now more than ever, it's time for Colorado's moms to come together to let our Governor know we support this plan.

As moms, we want more than anything that our children are healthy so we support your draft executive order to reduce carbon emissions in Colorado and we hope that you will finalize it.

The current draft calling for a 25 percent cut in carbon dioxide cut from 2012 levels by 2025 – and by 35 percent by 2030 – means kids will be able to play outside to get needed exercise without inhaling dangerous pollution. The reality is carbon pollution harms our children by leading to increased childhood respiratory diseases that makes them sick and cause school absences. That’s a big deal to us because 10 percent of Colorado kids struggle with asthma and the air quality in seven Colorado counties has already received a failing grade from the American Lung Association.

There are many things that moms worry about when it comes to their kids, having clean air to breathe shouldn’t be one of them. Many of us have chosen Colorado as the place to raise our families because of the healthy lifestyle here.

We appreciate your efforts to help us create a healthy environment for our children. We’re doing our best to protect our kids and we’re counting on you to do yours. Please finalize the executive order so our children can grow up healthy and strong.
