For the first time, Congress is considering a bill that would make significant investments in fighting climate change. While the majority of people across the country support this historic climate bill, Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia announced that he will not vote in favor of it. His support was critical to passage. While his announcement is deeply disappointing, this fight is not lost. Indeed, failure is not an option.
The Build Back Better Act will tackle the climate crisis, cut energy costs for families, create good-paying union jobs, and tackle environmental injustice. With the devastating impacts of climate change hurting our health, economy, and environment, the BBBA’s climate provisions alone are too important to fail and must be preserved.
