Tell the CLC: Block Hot Cargo, Not Democratic Debate

It’s time for unions and labour bodies to launch an international picket line against Israel, declaring all collaboration with Israel to be Hot Cargo, taking away Israel’s social license, and laying the groundwork for a worker-led embargo.

The CLC is trying to prevent a Hot Cargo resolution, duly submitted by several union bodies, from making it to the floor for debate. Tell the CLC to change course now.

It’s time for unions and labour bodies to launch an international picket line against Israel, declaring all collaboration with Israel to be Hot Cargo, taking away Israel’s social license, and laying the groundwork for a worker-led embargo.

Canadian unions have a proud legacy of using Hot Cargo actions to stand with workers around the world. Canadian workers helped end apartheid in South Africa. We supported East Timorese liberation. We took a stand against war in Iraq. Now is the time to take a stand for Palestine.

Declaring Israeli goods, services, and relationships, as Hot Cargo, as well as cutting ties with Israel's Histadrut, is how we answer the call from Palestinian workers and help stop the genocide and end the occupation. Hot Cargo isn’t just symbolic. It WORKS.

It disrupts profits. It prioritizes solidarity. It sends a clear message: workers won’t be complicit.

The CLC must change course now and let the Hot Cargo resolution, duly submitted by several union bodies, hit the floor for debate.
