Tell the Missouri Legislature governing in the dark is unacceptable.

The Missouri Legislature

We must demand transparency and open government from our elected officials during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With over 1200 bills filed this year so far, the entire Missouri Legislature, both House and Senate, must create a meaningful virtual option for the public to engage in legislative hearings. Public hearings are key moments for feedback on legislation that will impact the daily lives of Missourians. Right now, our government discourages us from coming to the capitol while passing legislation that has little to do with the crisis that keeps us at home. The people’s voice is needed in Jefferson City.

By leaving the decision to allow virtual testimony to the discretion of the various committees we anticipate unequal access to government and the silencing of voices of dissent.

We are being responsible and keeping our distance. I, as your constituent, urge you to ensure my voice is heard and open the people’s house to the public, not just in person, but online.

Let your elected representatives know they do not have your support to govern in the dark by signing on to this petition.
