Tell the Senate: Protect Marriage Equality

U.S. Senate

LGBTQ family playing by a window

In 2015, we celebrated when the Supreme Court ruled that LGBTQ people could legally get married. As parents, we know how important marriage is to facilitating things like filing your taxes, legally adopting children, and visitation in hospitals. Unfortunately, many conservatives and some Supreme Court justices feel that decision should be reconsidered. LGBTQ families have built lives around this decision. We must act to protect this right!

Fortunately the House of Representatives has already passed a bill that would codify marriage equality in law, protecting LGBTQ people and interracial couples if the Supreme Court decides to take up a challenge to this right. Next, we need the Senate to pass this legislation too. Sign the petition and urge the Senate to act!

Our friends and families are impacted by the harmful proposals coming out of the Supreme Court to roll back marriage equality. As a community of parents, we know how important it is that we speak out to protect the rights of our LGBTQ loved ones. Marriage equality has been the law of the land since 2015 and LGBTQ people have built lives around it. From selecting healthcare plans to adopting children together, families' lives are easier when that love is formally recognized by the federal government. Marriage is a right that LGBTQ people deserve and has already been settled. There is no justifiable reason why that should be upended.

The House of Representatives has passed the Respect for Marriage Act which would protect the right to marriage equality for same-sex and interracial couples. It’s your turn to act. We urge you to support this legislation.
